The God in the Machineby Panadero - February 18, 2013 11:41:29 AM MST
Today brings a trio of series that deal with technology, deities, or a combination of both. First up is the recent Sword Art Online. I'm not ready to declare it the 'second coming' like many were, but it was a very impressive series with strong characters and an interesting take on the social and psychological effects of being trapped in a deadly fantasy world. It's almost like what .hack had the potential to be without the metaphysical aspects weighing it down.
Next is Kamichu!, an insanely relaxing and emotionally gentle slice of life series about a middle school student who wakes up one morning and realizes that she has become a god. Yurie is moe before moe was a thing, and it's hard to not want to hug her and never let go.
Last is Kamisama Dolls, a series that came out of nowhere for me and impressed me with how much I got into it. Mysterious power struggles between two families in an isolated village, strange gods in the form of large wooden dolls that are mentally controlled by a select group of people...I came into the series without knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised.
In site news, I have ended the first official poll and put up a new one. Sailor Moon was far and away the favorite inner senshi, leading with 14 votes to Sailor Jupiter's second place with 9 votes, which kind of surprised me. Thanks to all who voted and I hope you like the new poll!
