Uu uu, witchy womenby Prince Io - August 14, 2010 4:06:02 PM MST
From the creators of When they Cry comes Umineko no Naku Koro ni, a series that is just as twisted and winding. There is so much going on that by the end, while you've answered quite a few questions, there is still so much remaining to be answered that you'll throw your hands up after the final scene, imploring the powers-that-be to allow for a second season.
The series involves a 'closed room' scenario where a wealthy family gets trapped on an island and many of them get mysteriously murdered. A possible culprit is the enigmatic and cruel Beatrice, the 'Golden Witch' who is rumored to have had dealings with the head of the family many years ago. She engages Battler, the protagonist, in a surreal game in order to prove to him the existence of magic and witches.
The story and the characters are very engaging and once again, as with When they Cry, you find yourself thinking during the downtime between episodes, about possible solutions as to exactly what the hell is really going on. With a major twist about two thirds of the way through, the series seriously keeps you on your toes.
