Rock and Roll

I like trying to come up with some common theme to connect new series when multiple ones are included in an update, and no matter how contrived, I'll usually run with it. Today, however, the theme is particularly contrived - they all have some notion of stones or rocks. Hey, not all update text can be gold. On with the series!
First is the wonderful Hikaru no Go, about a young man's introduction and journey through the world of Go. I usually shy away from long-running overtly shounen series, but this one had me hooked early on, despite not having much interest in the actual game.
Next is Black Rock Shooter, the surprisingly violent but also surprisingly good series about the emotional turmoil of a group of girls and the parallel world that oddly reflects those feelings.
Last is the addition of two new characters from the final season of The Familiar of Zero, a franchise I have a love-hate relationship with. I love the characters and the Saito/Louise dynamic, but I hate the poorly executed harem aspects (not the existence of the harem aspects themselves, but just the poor execution of them). That said, the final season was MUCH better than seasons two and three and I was satisfied with the ending.
In all, twelve new girls are up this afternoon - enjoy!
