First appearing in the Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance movie, Mari is an Evangelion pilot with a markedly different attitude from the rest of the pilots. She is confident and practical, recognizing when to fight and when to retreat, and seems to enjoy her job without being consumed by it. Her origin and purpose are unknown, but she seems determined to make a mark in the battle against the Angels.
